In the dimness of the moonway
Falling through the trees,
With the singing of the forest fairy
And the rustling of the leaves,
In the odour of the flowers
And the buzz of the bee,
With the ringing chains in towers
And the rushing of the sea…

The elves of the moon
Flying on the broom
The elves of the night,
Elves gauzy and bright
Made from the moonlight
Playing with the fireflies,

With the wail of the wolves,

And in steps going down
In the darkness of the house
When the nightmares arouse;
In the tinkling of the bells
And the caw of the ravens,
In the murmur of the shells
And in the dreams of the maidens…
