new law or how russian government killed disabled people

Few days ago hundreds of disabled people in Moscow had a demonstration protesting against new law about cutting down their benefits. Not amazingly humane Russian government decided that people with disabilities should be able to work and don’t require any help from social network. They also don’t have a right for free treatment anymore. Russian government decided to save money on those who can’t contribute.

There are 16 millions of disabled in Russia. In 2005, Michael Zyrabov, a minister of health department, said that he wants to reduce that amount. By logic you should have found ways to find money for their treatment. But no, he started with trying to prove that most of them just pretend. So he cut down the benefits in order to prevent healthy people to apply for them. Now I should notice that those benefits were not more than 50 pounds a month at 1st point. Think of examples of rich Russians from government and judge the way they find money, yourself. I don’t even want to imagine how hard and embarrassing it must be to try and prove and appeal, again and again, if just not literally beg government for some help to survive.

Example: one blind old lady, who hadn’t got children and didn’t get any support from government, committed suicide recently. She jumped off her balcony on the 8th floor of the house where my grandmother lives. Nobody was liable for her death, nobody is going to be liable for deaths of others who don’t have ability to work, who won’t be able to survive without any help, because new law says that they don’t deserve it.
