The Crossroads Meadow

I woke in the core of night
And put up my stylish hat,
I took my double-edged staff
'Cause I was getting ready for a fight.

The moon never shines over crossroads -
It's blind to see fair meadow rage,
I'm shouting down this silence dead,
The meadow's locked me in its cage...

My body's captured, so is my soul,
I never dare to brake these chains,
The Darkness is my only guide,
Watch agonized nocturnal pains.

The crossroads meadow starts to fade...
It's turning into reddish cloud...
What can I do to set me free?
I must go on and there's no doubt.

...A distracted fiddler was dying here a couples of years ago...
Now his violin accompanies reed singing.
I have come to stay for good -
Meadow, see your new attendant!
