Все-таки немного переиграли в MOH :)

I'm the one that you obey" - здесь порядок подчинения слегка неясен, кто кому? Ну да это не суть :)

Нееее... Хотя нить вы правильно обнаружили. Только не MoH, а Jagged Alliance 2. Отсюда и "Mercenary lives forever". =)
А насчет второго - там же ещё строчка "Command the chain...". А само произведение написано от лица командующего армией =).
