By Mays Short and Bared Nights
Died out, all the combats ended.
Where are you now, friend- fellow combaters,
Who so often me have aided?
I walk around in the sunset hours,
By the new erected pine gate.
Perhaps the wind, may bring a man of ours
The war’s for long forgotten mate.
We would with him, remember all forgotten,
Remember how hard was every step,
For our triumph a glass – full would have risen
For all the friends once more would crepe
If you by chance might not be married,
You shall my friend not saddened be,
Here, in the place were songs are carried,
The girls are painfully sightly
With whole kolkhoz a home we shall erect,
And so every passing man could see:
Who lives here saved with bear chest,
His Russian homeland from the foes free.
By May’s short and bared nights,
Died out, all the combats ended.
Where are you now, friend- fellow combaters,
Who so often me have aided?
