Unhuman Grace

Thine grace is of unhuman kind

Invading me, with elegance.

You said it right: I’m deaf and blind

I’m drawn by your hypnotic glance.

Unkind and vicious, yet so sweet

You make me starve, and crave, and fall

And barely standing on my feet,

Follow your soft unspoken call.

Impermanent, like an autumn breeze

You drag me close, then push aside

You make me burn, you make me freeze

Your eyes, that’s where my sins reside.

The curves of your seductive lips

Disarm my heart, rewrite my past

And heal my soul, where sorrow sleeps,

Your kisses have restored my trust.

And even though our bond is strong

We will travel on for something new

Search different roads, yet all along

I’ll steal away a part of you.

So, when I’m cold and struck by pain

Misunderstood, condemned to death

Betrayed, distraught or hurt in vain,

Your name I’ll sigh under my breath.

And it will soothe my wounded heart

And make me smile Death in the face,

For truth, till oblivion do us part,

I’ll recall that strange, unhuman grace.
