Evening
The sun is set
The swallows are asleep
The bats are flitting in the grey air
The slow soft toads out at damp corners creep
And evenings breath wandering here and there
over the quivering surface of the stream
Wakes not one ripple from its silent dream
There are no dews on the dry grass tonight
Nor damps within the shadow of the trees
The wind is in termitting dry and light
and in the inconstant motion of the breeze
the dust and straws are driven up and down
and whirled about the pavement of the town..

Вечер

Спустилось солнце,
Ласточки уснули
И в сумраке нетопыри быстрее серый воздух разрывают
Обмякшие,медлительные жабы
Сырые перекрестки устилают
Дыханье вечера блуждает всюду
И над дрожащею поверхностью воды
Ни звука мне не слышно
В сладкой дремоте
Нет ни росинки на сухой траве сегодня
Как нет прохлады под деревьев сенью
Нечасто сухой сменяет ветер
легкий бриз
Взмывает вихрем пыль и солома
Над городскими мостовыми вверх и вниз...
