Фано устраивает вечер,
приглашает всех друзей -
медведь сыграет на рояле,
будут песни и гаданье.
Фано приглашает гостей
с лапками, с хвостиками,
с чешуйками, с усами -
Фано животных знает всех !
Придут карибу и верблюды,
слон со львицей, ежи, птицы,
и, конечно, киты примчатся,
чтоб потанцевать с мартышкой.
Празднуют все день рожденья
колдуна, отца девицы -
будет пенье, будут пляски
под гитару, по-цыгански.
Будет пир, как в дивной сказке,
для колдуна-царя, на счастье !

This is a very beautiful poem, full of naive-at-first-glance, but profound and symbolic images. This poem can be stratified into the Jungian archetypes, and it will tell volumes about the poet herself, her childhood, her vision of English and Russian folk cultures, etc. etc. It has certainly stayed in my mind, and I think about it often, invariably finding new layers of meaning in it. It is subtly evocative of the best of Christina Rossetti's writing.

Yes, as you have perceptively surmised, it is the voice of the inner child speaking here, and although I can recognise this and take pleasure in it, I could not even begin to analyse it... Thank you once again for taking the time and trouble to read beyond the surface and see deeper.
