Emerald heart
Among fields of the corn
A child with an emerald heart was born
When Marry O'Connor
Gave birth to the boy
Her husband, brave Johnny,
Was fishing with joy.
The son was named William
And at the age of fifteen
He met pretty Megan
Who was meant for him.
Marry taught William
To follow the truth
And never change emerald
To red, white and blue.
William grew old
And went sail to the sea
He joined army
And thus was he free.
And taking his duty
He swore to the crew
Never change emerald
To red, white and blue.
They landed the country
Where red roses grow
The general greeted them
And William did so.
The general said
To William that day:
Join us, brave William,
I'll grant you a bay.
With bow and pride
William answered him true:
I swore not to change emerald
To red, white and blue.
In the land of red roses
William met a young girl
With blue eyes wide open
With white shining curl.
"Darling brave William,
Don't tear me apart.
I love you, honey,
So give me your heart."
"Dear sweet lady,
Believe, I like you,
But will never change emerald
To red, white and blue."
William left country
Where red roses were,
Returned to his Megan.
His heart was for her.
In rainy old Dublin
Away from the corn
A child with an emerald heart was born.
William and Megan
Taught son to stay true
And never change emerald
To red, white and blue.

Actually a red rose is a national symbol of England ;-)
It's kinda folk Irish song or something like that.
