Where is my beloved?
"Where's my lovely one?"
The Poplar didn't answer me
And made my soul undone.
I asked the Ash in foreign land
"Where is my beloved?"
The Ash cast down on my head
His withered leaves and laughed
I asked the Cloud that flied so high
"Where is my fair girl?"
The Cloud vanished in the sky
And left me all alone.
I asked the cold and rainy Fall
"Where is my black-browed?"
The Fall was deaf to mortal's call
Just grit its tooth and roared.
And the Rain I asked at night
"Where is my darling dame?"
The Rain was whipping outside
And whispering her name
Tell me thee, my dear friend,
Answer me sincerely:
"Where can I find that maid
Whom I love so dearly?"
Answered old and truly friend
Frankly as before:
"Yes, I know that fair maid
You're longing for.
She, who was your lovely one,
She, who broke your life,
Girl, who was your dear bride
Now became my wife."
.I suppose that should be marked as literary translation.
