Mask of Stone

With a mask made of stone on my face,
I can say - we're together no longer.
I won't say that I miss your embrace,
For my mask makes me colder and stronger,

And it makes it so easy to lie,
Makes it easy to look calm and peaceful,
And it won't let you see how I cry,
And it won't let you hear what I whisper.

You won't see there are tears in my eyes,
You won't see how I tremble and shudder,
For my mask is my safest disguise,
For my mask is my shelter and cover.
