A Mystery for one неоконченное
A long dusty road was running ahead,
Leading away from my home.
My sword and my armour- that’s all what I had
No friends and no horse, I’m alone.
A wandering hero, a homeless knight,
The curse of all villains around!
No point has my travel, I’ve nothing to find
But wait for myself to be found.
I still can remind me of happier days,
When I was so proud of my name.
But years have passed, ten years of disgrace,
And now it is covered with shame.
You heavenly deities! How cruel can you be?
My fortune’s your heartless joke!
Cease your malicious laughter at me,
I rebel to be free from your yoke!
I used to be noble and wealthy, and proud
Of being the king’s only son.
If hadn’t become I this pitiful dowd,
I’d wear the country’s crown.
One day I was standing, as usual, near
The market, awaiting my friend;
And saw I a prophet, an old blind seer,
Whose back with his wisdom was bent.
A purse or a knapsack the prophet he had
In his hands with time-wizened skin.
But a thief had an eye on his poor treasure and
The next moment I noticed the scene:
The thief with the purse was fleeing away,
While the old man rose up his head.
-Holy gods! Give me power! - And the evening turned day,
And the scoundrel fell down dead.
To pass back the wizard’s kitbag then I went,
The old man was pale like a ghost.
-Sir, I am here. Please give me your hand,
And take this kitbag you have lost.
The prophet he smiled and he stared at me.
So cold were his empty eyeholes…
No doubt that my face he couldn’t see,
But wait, I could hear his voice!
-Young lord, - the prophet he smilingly said, -
-Is courage in you strong or fear?
My visions can tell both the good and the bad,
My riddle would wish you to hear?
-No prophecy is there I would neglect, -
I objected in serious voice,
-If it’s knowledge or fear I have to select,
Then will always the truth be my choice!
-Young lord, take my wisdom! - The prophet he smiled,
-Your future I clearly see:
Three exploits shall do you before you will die,
Heroic and wonderful feats.
Take now my aid, it will help you survive
The traps of the Satan himself:
If it's justice to which in your actions you strive,
Choose a diamond out of the pelf.
Be a hero, not hesitating to kill,
But do not a savage become.
Every life has its purpose, importance, and still
May a slaughter have to be done.
Don't look for spell runes on a bookshelf
When your dark thoughts have nowhere to hide.
Remember: you can't ever hurt yourself
By trusting the soul inside.
-Your wisdom is boundless, your knowledge- untold
Good sir, but you did not say,
Why should I abandon my keep and my hold?
Why waste to my youth shall I lay?
