Precious Gift of Life

You said they wouldn’t understand
But you were wrong.
You thought they would be all upset
But now you’re gone.

Was it your choice to walk to Thee?
To die in vein?
Was it your dream
To leave her here all in Pain?

The fear and the panic that you felt
Why did you let them overwhelm you like they did?
When you were not alone and should have known that.
All that is now in the past, you placed your bet.

You chose to go with one color,
The other won.
Treated her life like a silver dollar,
What have you done?

You could have had her unbound love,
If it wasn’t for your mistake.
You should have seen her grow old,
All that you chose to forsake.

There is so much sorrow left in our hearts,
It’s almost too much to bear.
But god is love and he forgets,
And we will too forgive.

The precious gift of life you gave,
I hope you now understand.
So help us pray to god to save her
And with her life - your memory protect.

(In response to a story that was on the news:
A 19 year old college student chose not to get
prenatal care for her unborn baby and as a result
died during child birth. The little girl is now
in the hospital in critical condition.)
