With her help, many of these translations have already been published in literary magazines, such as Rattle, 128 LIT, Another Chicago Magazine, and American Chordata. Yana is currently working on her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) thesis at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Her thesis is focused on my poetry. Yana plans to translate more of my writing, including both pre-war and war-time poems, and to write an introduction about my evolution as a poet. Her thesis mentor, Professor Minna Zalman Proctor, is a writer and literary translator whom Yana admires. The project will also be validated by Professor David Daniel, who is a poet and a magazine editor. I am incredibly proud of this and feel as joyful as a child. Who would have thought that one day Blizniuk would start writing poetry, and that it would be published around the world and become the subject of a thesis at an American university? Additionally, Yana and I signed a legal agreement that gives Yana the right to translate any of my poems and publish them anywhere. It’s a perpetual contract that remains legally binding even if I can’t make contact for several weeks, or if I disappear from this planet altogether. The agreement was prepared for us by Judy Bass, the First Vice-Chair of the Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law Section at the New York State Bar Association. Both Yana and I are grateful to Judy Bass for her expertise, as well as for her warm support of this translation project. We learned a great deal during the process of preparing this agreement.
