Fanciful Cat

A dreaming cat with wistful sighs,
Observes the skies where goldfinches fly,
No more, just crumbs left, strewn around,
While birds to their nests have flown from the ground.

What a fanciful feline, it’s true!
She counts the dog a kitten too,
Nestled down in the garden fair,
Though loud he barks; seems unaware.

Oh, this Catness full of dreams!
How the Tomcat yearns,
To make a friend, but her heart just churns.
What a jest! His friendship she rejects.

The Tomcat sits alone, weary in plight,
Beneath the bed or out of sight;
Some warmth and love, he longs to find,
In matters of the heart he is an expert, not a blind.

Night falls, and on the couch she curls,
Our Catness, twirled like silken pearls.
Wrapped in a ball, dreams start to weave,
While the Tomcat waits, hoping to believe.

In dreams she'll dance where the goldfinches wing,
As if they've returned to joyfully sing,
With Tomcat and dog in a symphonic swirl,
Together they’ll sing in a wonderful twirl.
