The Winter Waltz

The Winter Waltz
The blizzard roars, a polar bear,
Its fierce embrace stirs shadows where
Cats huddle close beneath the stair,
While swirling whispers fill the air.

A howling wind, a ghostly flight,
It sings of dreams in the frozen white,
The snowdrifts arch, like fluffy backs,
Soft as cotton, nature’s tracks.

Cars huddle near, in shadows cast,
Like shivering pups. No speed, no traffic fast.
But here I sit, amidst the storm,
My heart a flutter, a restless form.

I ought to busy myself, yet still,
My thoughts are a whirlpool tangled at will.
The radio hums with a tuneless drone,
The chill in the house has greatly grown.

But through the storm, a chime at the door -
And there you stand, my heart’s core!
Nervous, blushing - dream or real?
Cloaked in snow, what do you conceal?

'Did you not wait for me, you dear boy?
Here I am - may I bring you some joy?'
'Oh, my fable! You’re my Snow Girl!
An impossible dream, in a whirling swirl.'

Do you remember the tales we once spun?
In the dance of the snowflakes that kissed the sun?
Together we laughed, like children at play,
In a hush of the evening, as night stole the day.

Now the world whispers secrets, both gentle and clear,
With each breath of the breeze, I long to draw near.
Hold on to the magic, let our souls entwine,
In this frosty embrace, both your heart and mine.

Lights flicker out in the quiet hum,
Yet I know wonders yet can come.
The swirling wind, a breathless flight,
Calls my spirit through the dark of night.

Still, the blizzard, a bear of snow,
Holds secrets deep in its chilling glow.
But heart, oh heart, still believes in the bold,
In dreams that linger, both shy and old:

'Did you not wait for me?' - 'You tease, can’t you see?
Midnight’s warning calls out to me.
Please, stay, my Snow Girl, my divine.
We'd met, neath the moonlight’s shine.'

The purest white with pearlescent gleam,
In snowy shawls, dances like a dream.
With harmony, they gently enfold the soul,
Warming the heart, making our two souls whole.

Moonlight spills softly from heavens above,
In the stillness of night, hums the heart’s love.
Every breath hints of comfort and grace,
In this wondrous world, winter waltz holds us together in its embrace.
