Shattered Illusions
Built castles in the air, but they're crumbling all about.
You painted me a picture, colors bright and bold,
But the canvas underneath, a story left untold.
The promises you uttered, like a sweet and gentle song
Now echo in the silence, where they truly belong.
I opened up my heart, a garden fresh and new,
But thorns instead of roses, is all that grew for you.
The truth was staring at me, in the flicker of your gaze.
A mask of empty comfort, in a thousand different ways.
I've learned to read the language, of the silent, subtle art
Of broken vows and promises, that tear a heart apart.
The signs were always there, clear as day to see.
I'm breaking free from this charade, finally setting me free.
So go on, walk away, don't look back at me,
I'm done with your deception, eternally.
Don't leave false illusions behind,
Don't cry, I ain't changing my mind.
So find another fool like before,
'Cause I ain't gonna live anymore,
Believing your lies deceiving,
For I feel the lie in everything I'm seeing.
I'll build my own world, find my light within,
Forever it'll be, like a song of mine.
But know, I'll dissolve into mist and thin,
Without a trace, without a name, just a sign.
