Serenity

Summer's morn on the lake so fair,
Dawn's rosy hues paint the air.
In a boat I sit, eyes gently closed,
Inhaling the day's sweet repose.

The world aglow in golden hues,
When suddenly, a crash ensues!
Another boat has struck my own,
Anger rising, fierce and prone.

But as I open wide my gaze,
My fury melts, to my amaze.
The boat that rammed me, was devoid,
Empty and silent, like a void.

I sit transfixed, breath held in tow,
Seeking reason for my sudden woe.
The sun paints patterns in the sky,
And calmness washes over, nigh.

So when you face life's unjust plight,
Resist the urge to react in sight.
Recall the tale of the empty watercraft,
And keep resentment far away from your heart.
