The Taste of Life

A wise man, once, was asked to say,
'What's life's grand purpose, can you explain?'
He shook his head, 'I cannot tell,
The path of life, I cannot spell.'

They pressed him then, 'But what's its worth,
What meaning does it hold on Earth?'
He sighed, 'I know not what it means,
To find the answer, life intervenes.'

'What then, does your wisdom comprehend?'
The wise man smiled, 'It's not the end,
Or reason we live, that matters most,
It's the flavour of life, at any cost.'

It's not the why, nor what we seek,
But simply tasting, week by week.
For what's the point of pie's grand talk,
When you can have a slice and walk?

So, let us not dwell on purpose or plan,
But relish the taste, as best we can.
For life, like a pie, is meant to be savoured,
And enjoyed, each moment, never laboured.
